The world is going through uncertain times. Every day brings news of more countries falling into the grip of the COVID-19 virus. India so far seems to have avoided ‘community transmission’ and, according to health experts, if all of us exercise social distancing, there is a good chance we could still avert the devastating consequences of this pandemic.
Over the last couple of weeks, we have been strictly complying with the directives issued by local, State and Central Governments and several of our stores had to down shutters in various parts of the country. Consequently, our webstore, www.croma.com, witnessed a surge in orders, especially for smaller gadgets like smartphones that are listed in our 3-hour delivery promise in select pin codes where our stores are able to deliver directly to your home.
As we enter the crucial 4th week of the spread of the virus, we have now decided to take a proactive call to secure our employees’ well-being instead of waiting for mandates from the local authorities. Effective yesterday, ALL operations across India, including our warehouses and, hence, our webstore, are shut down. We regret the inconvenience caused to all our customers but we do think that it is important to secure the safety of our employees, our partners and, indeed, support the larger cause of fighting the pandemic across the country.
We are reviewing the situation on a daily basis and I shall keep you posted on the developments.
I am confident that with our policymakers taking proactive action and all of us supporting the guidance, we will come out of this crisis soon and that the future of India continues to be #BrighterEveryday.
