Product Description

Introduction

The Olympus OM-D E-M1 mirrorless digital camera is a new flagship, compact, ergonomically designed camera featuring a 16.3 megapixel Live MOS sensor and TruePic VII image processor to produce high-resolution still imagery and full HD 1080p video with great low-light quality and high-speed performance. The combination of these two technologies enables a high sensitivity range from ISO 100-25600 and also contributes to a top 1/8000 sec. shutter speed and continuous shooting up to 10 fps. The sensor also lends itself to an enhanced FAST autofocus system that utilizes dual contrast- and on-chip phase-detection focusing methods to quickly and accurately acquire focus with selectable focus areas for even greater precision. The E-M1’s lightweight sturdy magnesium body is splash and dust resistant, and freeze resistant down to 14º F (-10º C). There's two customizable control dials on the upper right side of the body, although they are now larger and more knurled on the EM1, and obviously further separated due to the shutter release being towards the front of the larger grip.

Sensor and Image Processor

The 16.3 megapixel Live MOS sensor and TruePic VII image processor enables high resolution still photography, full HD video recording, and good low-light quality sensitivity to ISO 25600.

The latest TruePic VII image processor has been designed to further refine image quality and manage the in-camera JPEG image rendering in light of the removal of the sensor's anti-aliasing filter and the corresponding threat.

Dual Fast AF system

The E-M1 has Olympus's new Dual Fast AF system which combines contrast and phase detection systems and permanently converts imaging pixels to AF duties.

5-Axis Image Stabilization

This feature compensates for vertical, horizontal, and rolling camera shake. The 5 axis IS is only advantageous in low light if you are shooting static subjects as IS has zero value for moving subjects. Olympus’s five-axis sensor shift IS technology adjusts not just for up-down or side-to-side camera shake but for rotation on three other axes also.

Electronic Viewfinder and Tilting Touchscreen

A large and detailed viewfinder, tilting touch-screen, built-in Wifi, a 1/8000 shutter, focus peaking for stills and 10fps continuous shooting and a new 12-40mm f2.8 lens, gains the excellent 2.3M-dot electronic viewfinder panel.

A large 3-inch 1,037k-dot tilting touchscreen LCD monitor is used for live view monitoring, image playback, and menu navigation. The monitor's design can tilt 80° upward and 50° downward, making it well-suited to use from both high and low angles. Touchscreen that helps make it quick to change secondary settings (gradation, white balance, ISO, etc.). Have Vivid and Natural color tone select.

Wireless Connectivity

The OMD EM1 is equipped with a Micro HDMI port, USB port and an external microphone input, complete with basic levels adjustment. Built-in wireless connectivity is available and, when paired with the Olympus Image Share application for iOS and Android mobile devices, remote sharing and control over the camera is possible. Connecting of mobile devices to the camera is possible through an intuitive QR Code Connect system, which displays a unique QR code on the camera's monitor which can then be recognized by a mobile device for instant linking.

Conclusion

Olympus OM-D E-M1 gives you pro-style performance in a camera you can actually carry. Its magnesium alloy construction features a dust-, splash-, and freezeproof design that enables full-functionality in adverse conditions and supports comfortable use for long shooting durations.
