After ChatGPT, Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude to get Voice Mode Feature

Claude users will soon be able to enjoy an Advanced Voice Mode equivalent feature within a month

After ChatGPT, Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude to get Voice Mode Feature

Anthropic is reportedly developing a feature that will follow the likes of OpenAI’s Chatgpt and Google’s Gemini. Dubbed as ‘voice mode’, the new feature will finally move Claude out of the text-only interface. Although late to the party, the AI firm seems to be working on several changes for its chatbot, as the announcement comes in shortly after it released an education plan for students and academic staff. Here’s everything you need to know:

Claude to finally get voice mode: What's there to know?

According to a report published by Bloomberg, the AI company is planning to roll out the feature for its users within a month. The publication also goes on to mention how the launch could also take place in April itself.

It will be made available to a small subset of users to begin with; however, it might eventually be rolled out to a larger audience based on its popularity. Moreover, Anthropic also seems to be adding in three new voice modes to Claude, reportedly known as Airy, Mellow and Buttery. Buttery, as per the article, will have a British accent.

It states that an app researcher named M1Astra first spotted this feature on Claude’s iOS app code before sharing it with the publication. Apart from this, there are no other details revealed by the company at the time.

What does this mean for Claude users?

While the report does go on to mention a ‘voice mode’, it does not state explicitly if it is a basic text-to-speech, dictation feature or a human-like conversational tool, such as Chatgpt’s Advanced Voice Mode. It also remains to be seen if the company will make it available to all its users or simply its paid subscribers.

The three voice modes, however, may differ in pitch, timbre and intonation. With Anthropic jumping onto the bandwagon (albeit a little late) it only leaves Meta’s MetaAI chatbot one of the last few remaining ones which are yet to introduce a voice mode.

However, reports suggest that MetaAI, too, seems to have a two-way chat mode in the pipeline for its users. Needless to say, there seems to be exciting times ahead for the artificial intelligence industry. If this interests you, make sure you subscribe for more AI news.
