Samsung’s next Galaxy Edge phone may feature a bigger battery, slimmer build

Slimmer than ever, yet packing more power

Samsung’s next Galaxy Edge phone may feature a bigger battery, slimmer build

The recently launched Galaxy S25 Edge is quite thin, but to maintain that slim form factor, it had to compromise on battery. The device packs the smallest battery in the lineup, i.e., a 3,900mAh cell. Fortunately, however, its successor, likely called the Galaxy S26 Edge, may feature a significantly larger battery, while still being slim.

If you are a Samsung fan or just love slim phones, continue to read more about the upcoming slim phone from Samsung.

Here begins the incremental upgrade cycle

Since the Galaxy S25 Edge is one of a kind in the brand’s portfolio, it’s expected to receive an upgrade every year with a successor model. That said, the usual incremental upgrade cycle will begin.

According to a report, the Galaxy S26 Edge could ship with a 4,400 mAh battery, up from 3,900 mAh in the existing S25 Edge. That’s a 500mAh increase.

Despite the extra capacity, the phone is expected to be thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is already praised for its 5.8mm slimness.

Fitting a larger battery into a slimmer frame is an engineering challenge, but it would be a notable achievement in terms of design and power density. It’s unclear how exactly thin the successor will be, but for now, it’s said to be comparatively thinner.

A thinner build with a larger battery may make it a compelling offering. It’s worth noting that Samsung is expected to replace the Galaxy S26 Plus with the S26 Edge next year, which means it will sit below the Ultra model.

So the lineup should look like this – the Galaxy S26, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra. Those who want a small phone can go with the vanilla version, and those who want a slim and sleek device can go for the Edge model.
