If you’ve ever stared blankly at a sign in a foreign language, wished your voice assistant on your phone could understand your accent better, or pointed at something and said, “What is that?” – Grok might have just read your mind.
xAI, Elon Musk’s AI venture, has rolled out three major updates to its chatbot Grok, and these aren’t just techy gimmicks. The new features, including Grok Vision, multilingual audio support, and real-time web search, are tailor-made for real-world scenarios, from travel to trivia night. Here’s what’s new, and why it matters.
Point, ask, learn: Grok Vision is here
The most buzzworthy new feature is Grok Vision, now live on iOS. It’s a real-time computer vision tool that uses your smartphone camera to understand what you’re looking at. Whether you’re at a flea market wondering about that odd-looking gadget or holding a mysterious spice jar in the kitchen, just point your phone and ask Grok. The chatbot taps into your camera feed and responds instantly, often with surprisingly detailed answers.

Early testers even used it on abstract patterns and clothing prints, and Grok was able to recognise them with low latency (as long as you’re on decent Wi-Fi). It’s basically like Shazam, but for stuff.
Grok now speaks your language – literally
In a move that makes the chatbot much more accessible, Grok now supports multilingual voice commands and responses in five additional languages: Hindi, French, Spanish, Japanese, and Turkish, alongside English.
So, the next time you’re trying to brush up on your Spanish or helping your kid revise their Japanese vocabulary, Grok can chat with you in the same language. And yes, it responds verbally, not just in text. This means more natural, flowing conversations – no more typing and reading when you’re on the go.
Got a question? Grok will search it for you live
With real-time web search, Grok’s Voice Mode gets a major power boost. Ask it about breaking news, upcoming movie releases, or even today’s stock prices, and it pulls in answers live from the web. Think of it as your shortcut to the internet when you’re multitasking, cooking, or simply too lazy to open a browser tab.

Unlike some AI tools that still rely on pre-fed data, this update means Grok can access the latest info, as it’s happening. Perfect for staying in the loop without lifting a finger.
A few things to know before you dive in
All three features are now live on iOS and are available for free. Android users, sadly, will need to subscribe to SuperGrok to unlock them, with plans starting at Rs 700 a month or Rs 6,500 annually. These upgrades are all part of Grok’s enhanced Voice Mode, and should show up once you’ve updated the app.
AI features often sound impressive in theory, but Grok’s latest updates feel refreshingly grounded. These are tools that enhance everyday moments like asking what’s in your hand, chatting in your native tongue, or checking the news hands-free. Will you be checking them out? Let us know!
