HP’s new OmniBook 5 laptops want to be your brain’s plus-one

Unveiled at Computex 2025, the new HP OmniBook 5 series lean into the idea of a smarter, more intuitive PC experience. With 14- and 16-inch models clad in a sleek Glacier Silver colour, the OmniBook 5 lineup brings Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X platform and on-device Copilot+ AI features into a design that feels more calm than cutting-edge.

This isn’t HP’s first AI-powered rodeo, but it might just be its most polished attempt at building a machine that adapts to you. Here’s everything you need to know about the HP OmniBook 5 series of AI PCs.

HP OmniBook 5 series: Everything you need to know

At the heart of both models is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X or X Plus processor, backed by a neural processing unit capable of 45 TOPS (trillion operations per second). The kind of number that turns AI from buzzword into background superpower.

It enables features like Microsoft’s Recall and Click-to-Do, which learn your digital habits, surface the right apps and files at the right time, and even automate mundane workflows. Add HP’s own offline AI Companion for real-time document analysis and performance tuning, and you’ve got a machine that’s ludicrously smart.

The display? A 2K OLED (1920 x 1200 pixels) panel with 95 per cent DCI-P3 colour, TÜV+Eyesafe certification, and a zippy 0.02ms response time. Not built for hardcore gaming, sure, but more than enough for everyday creatives and binge-watchers.

Under the hood, you get up to 32GB LPDDR5x RAM, 1TB Gen 4 storage, and Qualcomm Adreno graphics, all wrapped in a quiet, minimalist chassis that doesn’t scream ‘performance’ but certainly delivers it.

The 1080p IR camera with privacy shutter, dual speakers, and solid port selection (2x USB-C, 1x USB-A, 3.5mm jack) round out a spec sheet built for those who live on video calls and crave a dongle-free life.

Battery life is handled by a 59Wh cell with HP Fast Charge that gets you 50 per cent in 30 minutes. You also get Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support courtesy of Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6900, making sure this machine stays fast, connected, and ready for dual 4K or a single 5K external display setup.

HP OmniBook 5 series: Pricing and availability

The HP OmniBook 5 series prices start at $799 (approximately Rs 68,000) for the 14-inch model and $849 (approximately Rs 72,500) for the 16-inch variant. While most global markets will see a July launch via hp.com and other offline stores, the 14-inch model will arrive early in select regions, as soon as June.

However, there’s no word on an India launch date yet, so stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for updates around that.
