Apple announced its latest operating system for iPhone – iOS 17 – at WWDC 2023. This new update comes with a host of features aimed at revamping its user experience, and more.

As with each iOS release, a common question that often arises is whether or not the iPhone you’re using is compatible with the new release. Well, worry not, for we’re here to make your lives a little easier and answer your questions.

Is iOS 17 compatible with your device?

Apple’s newest smartphone OS is compatible with all iPhones starting from iPhone XS and beyond. This means, iOS 17 will run on iPhone XR, 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max and 12 Mini, 13, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, and the latest crop of iPhones, the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Additionally, iOS 17 is also compatible with the second and later generations of the iPhone SE.

iOS 17 has already been made available to developers starting the June 5 and is expected to be released as a public beta next month. It’ll be launched to the wider user base starting this fall.

iOS 17 new features

The latest version of Apple’s smartphone operating system comes with variety of new features and a major redesign. These include a completely redesigned Phone app which lets users create personalised posters of their contacts with photos as well as Memojis, live transcripts of voicemails, and audio messages.

Searching for messages is now easier with search filters as is keeping track of them and replying to them with a catch-up arrow. One important new feature is Check in, which allows you to notify friends or family that you’ve reached the destination.

iOS 17 also brings with it Standby, which activates when you turn your iPhone to its side while charging. Furthermore, AirDrop now allows you to hold your iPhone near another’s and switch specific contact details, as well as other content including audio, photos and videos.
