Nothing is going all in on AI

Nothing phones, earbuds get ChatGPT; here’s what it means for you

It’s been an exciting two months for Nothing fans. The company made its way back to the mid-range smartphone segment with the Nothing Phone (2a), and also released several new audio products including the CMF Buds and Neckband Pro, as well as its latest flagship audio products, the Nothing Ear and Ear (a).

That’s not all, though. The brand has now announced that it will be integrating ChatGPT into all of its offerings soon.

ChatGPT integration on Nothing Phones: How it will work

Nothing is the latest company to jump on the AI bandwagon after bigwigs like Google, Microsoft, and even Samsung. It is bringing a ChatGPT integration to the Nothing Phone (2), via the Nothing OS 2.5.5 update. The update will bring to the device a ChatGPT widget for direct access from the home screen of the device.

What’s more, it also will get a feature to copy and paste screenshots and text on your clipboards into any conversations on the ChatGPT app. Bear in mind though, you will have to install the ChatGPT app on your Nothing Phone (2) separately. The update, which has already started rolling out to the device globally, will also be made available for the Nothing (1) and Nothing Phone (2a) late this month.

ChatGPT integration on Nothing audio products

ChatGPT integration on Nothing devices is not just limited to its smartphones, though. The company is also integrating it into its audio offerings, starting with the Nothing Ear, its latest flagship, and the Ear (a), launched just yesterday.

What it’s done is essentially give them pinch controls, using which you can initiate a conversation with the chatbot. What’s more, even the companion app, Nothing X, gets a new gesture option. This gesture also allows a user to start a conversation with ChatGPT. The app also allows you to set a different gesture on your TWS earbuds to do the same as well.

Nothing says that the ChatGPT integration won’t be limited to the newly launched earbuds though. The feature will also be made available to the Nothing Ear (1) and Nothing Ear (2),as well as the CMF lineup of audio products, by June this year.

What can ChatGPT voice chat do for you?

ChatGPT voice chat allows users to talk to it rather than have to type out queries and wait for a textual response. The chatbot can answer these queries in one of five voices, and equipped with natural language processing capabilities.

It will even throw in the occasional “Ahs” and “Umms” to make conversations feel natural. And all of this, while still fetching summarising and presenting information in a matter of seconds.
