With just days to go before its official launch on July 8, OnePlus has pulled back the curtain on the camera specs of its upcoming OnePlus Nord 5 – and it’s clear the mid-range tag doesn’t apply to its imaging ambitions. Launching alongside its cheaper sibling, the Nord CE5, the OnePlus Nord 5 houses a more premium camera array that you’d expect at its anticipated price. OnePlus has revealed that its upcoming Nord 5 is set to debut with a dual 50MP Ultra-Clear camera system – on both the front and rear. On the back, it features the Sony LYT-700 sensor, previously seen on the OnePlus 13R and 13s, paired with the flagship-grade HDR algorithm from the OnePlus 13 to boost colour accuracy, contrast, and low-light performance. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 116° field of view.

The front camera is no slouch either. Housing a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor with hardware autofocus, it’s a setup more commonly seen in premium flagships. OnePlus says this allows for consistently sharp and well-lit selfies, even in challenging lighting.

The company is also debuting a new LivePhoto feature with Ultra HDR, capturing three-second motion images by recording 1.5 seconds before and after the shutter press. Both front and rear cameras will support 4K video recording at 60fps.

OnePlus Nord 5: What’s known so far

These camera upgrades add to the previously confirmed specs, which include the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, LPDDR5X RAM, a 7,300 mm² vapour chamber, and flagship-grade graphene cooling (the same thermal system used in the OnePlus 13).

For gamers, the Nord 5 supports BGMI at 90fps, with frame interpolation up to 144fps, and runs Call of Duty: Mobile natively at 144fps.

As with past Nord launches, the OnePlus Nord 5 will be available via e-commerce platforms, the OnePlus India website, and select offline retail stores.
