Qualcomm has announced its latest mobile chipset in the 7 series. The all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is a performance-centric chipset for mid-range and mid-premium phones. It brings several upgrades over the predecessor Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, which was introduced last year.
Qualcomm says that the latest chipset has a 27 per cent faster CPU and is also gaming-ready with improved GPU performance. Here’s everything you need to know about the chipset that may power your next mid-range phone.
All about the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset is the company’s latest mid-range chipset, and it has a 27 per cent faster CPU. It packs Kryo CPU 1x 2.8 GHz ARM Cortex-A720 prime core, 3x A720 performance cores clocked at up to 2.4 GHz, and 2x Cortex-A520 efficiency cores at up to 1.84 GHz.
As for the GPU, it has a new Adreno GPU that offers 30 per cent faster performance compared to the GPU of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Based on TSMC’s 4nm process technology, the chipset also has Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU for AI workloads.
The chipset supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5X 4200MHz memory and UFS 3.1 storage type. For imaging, it has the Qualcomm Spectra Image Sensor Processor. It enables up to 4K HDR video recording + 64MP photo capture mode. It also supports slow-mo and 10-bit HEIF images.

In terms of connectivity, the chipset supports up to Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and LE Audio. It also has support for USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5 technology.
We are expected to see the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset in mid-range phones. Reports suggest that Vivo may launch the upcoming Vivo S30 in China with the same chipset. Other brands like OnePlus and Realme are also expected to use this chipset in their mid-range phones.
