Sony Xperia 10 VII announced with a radical new look

Sony has officially taken the wraps off the Xperia 10 VII, and it comes with a major design shake-up. The mid-range handset now sports a horizontal, pill-shaped camera bar. This is a step away from the vertical setup Sony has used for years.

Within this redesigned module lies a 50MP Exmor RS main sensor that doubles up as a 2x optical zoom shooter. It’s backed by a 13MP ultra-wide lens. An 8MP selfie camera sits on the front, which is housed above a compact 6.1-inch OLED display. That screen has a 120Hz refresh rate and is protected with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, though Sony stubbornly retains those nostalgic top-and-bottom bezels.

Inside, Sony has loaded the phone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip, paired with 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. Storage-hungry users will appreciate the microSD slot that supports cards up to 2TB.

The phone also ships with Android 15 and Sony is promising four years of OS updates and six years of security patches. This signals a change in the software policy for the company as it’s never before promised such extended support. The software ships with the usual AI goodies including Circle to Search and Google Gemini.

Power comes from a 5,000mAh battery that includes careful charging features designed to extend its lifespan. It’s housed in a body just 8.3mm thick and weighing only 168 grams. You still get some old-school perks too, like stereo front-facing speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and even a dedicated camera shutter button for the purists.

Sony has also ticked all the durability boxes with IPX5/IPX8 water resistance and IP6X dust protection. Buyers will be able to pick it up in White, Turquoise, or Charcoal Black, with pricing set at 449 Euros, which roughly converts to Rs 46,500. While launch details for the US and other regions remain under wraps, the company is expected to reveal more soon.
