Meta AI integration into WhatsApp has opened various doors for users. Whether you’re looking for an image-generating platform or are including Meta AI into your conversations, the chatbot has been a faithful digital sidekick for WhatsApp users for a while now. Now, it looks like this AI assistant is about to become even more useful with a feature many of us have been secretly wishing for. Here’s everything you need to know:
TL;DR: WhatsApp to introduce AI message summaries
According to a report published by WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned company is working on a feature that could potentially help summarise your messages using artificial intelligence in your day-to-day chats, group conversations, as well as channels. It further states that a version (2.25.15.12) of this feature has already been rolled out to Android device holders who are enrolled on the beta program.

The summarise feature is expected to give users a private summary of incoming messages. This is also designed to look similar to Apple Intelligence’s condensed version of conversations that appear on a user’s lock screen. The website also states how this is ideal for users who often receive a bundle of notifications from the app and need to see them at a glance.
When will this feature be available for everyone?
Right now, the feature is in testing mode with a limited number of Android devices. There’s no official timeline for a wider rollout, and Meta hasn’t confirmed plans for iOS users yet, though it’s likely to follow once the Android version stabilises.
If you’re wondering about privacy (as you should!), Meta claims it’s implementing Private Processing for these summaries. This means your messages should remain securely encrypted and unreadable by Meta, WhatsApp, or any third parties.
