After carving a stronghold in the smart home ecosystem, Xiaomi has announced its latest kitchen innovation, the Mijia 20L Energy-Saving microwave. The release is currently limited to China, with the microwave quietly landing on online platforms in the country. It is priced at just 349 yuan (approximately Rs 4,000), targeting budget-conscious households without compromising on features.
Xiaomi microwave: Affordable, yet powerful
Minimalism remains the theme here. The all-white microwave ditches traditional design cues. There’s no visible handle, just a sleek seamless front and a push-to-open door. Two rotary knobs handle all operations, from power to timing, offering a tactile, one-hand-friendly experience.
The microwave generates 700W of heating power via next-gen magnetron technology. Xiaomi further claims it can warm a cup of milk or a sandwich in roughly a minute at full power. The timer maxes out at 35 minutes, enabling use cases that range from baked potatoes to delicate desserts.
Inside, the 20-liter capacity is paired with a 3D reflective heating system and a removable glass turntable. The 360-degree design reduces cold spots, while a nano-coated interior resists stains and simplifies cleaning, which is perfect for fast-paced kitchens, or the ones owned by the folks who like to take it easy.
There are five power levels to choose from, each suited for specific needs. From softening butter at low heat to cooking seafood at high, it has it all covered. A dedicated defrost dial gently thaws frozen foods while preserving moisture and nutrients.
It’s also reasonably energy conscious. Rated Level 2 under China’s GB 24849-2017 standard, the microwave balances performance and power use, giving a subtle nod to eco-awareness at a time when utility bills are rising.

This release follows closely on the heels of Xiaomi’s Mijia M40S robot vacuum-mop and the Mijia Wireless Floor Scrubber 4 Max, both boasting advanced suction power and smart features. While those may steal headlines, the unassuming Mijia microwave could quietly become a kitchen staple.
