Examples include the Apple iPhone 15 Pro series, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the Google Pixel 8 Pro, and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. These phones are usually expensive and priced at around Rs 60,000 to Rs 1,50,000

2. Sub-flagship phones

This category of phones is powered by flagship chipsets from the current or previous year. These are premium phones that have a slightly toned-down version of features and specifications.

For instance, the iQOO 12 is a phone equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, whereas the iQOO Neo 9 Pro, which features last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, is an affordable flagship phone priced at under Rs 40,000.

3. Camera-focused phones

Prioritising exceptional image quality, these phones feature large image sensors, advanced optics, and specialised software for great photos in various conditions. They’re perfect for mobile photography enthusiasts and content creators who prioritise visuals. Examples include the Vivo X100 series, Xiaomi 14, and OnePlus 12.

At present, there are two kinds of foldable phones in India. The first is the horizontally foldable phones, such as the Galaxy Z Fold5, the OnePlus Open, and the Tecno Phantom V Fold, and the second is the vertically foldable phones, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, the Oppo Find N3 Flip, and the Tecno Phantom V Flip.

7. Rugged phones

Built to withstand drops, water immersion, extreme temperatures, and harsh environments, rugged phones are ideal for outdoor enthusiasts or those with demanding jobs requiring durable devices.

There are not many phone brands in India offering rugged phones. However, it is worth mentioning that Samsung announced the Galaxy X Cover7 rugged smartphone in India recently.

Stripping away touchscreens for physical keyboards and running on simple operating systems with long battery life and basic communication functions. Users who primarily need calls and texts, such as the elderly or those seeking a digital detox, can benefit from these phones.

Some of the phones that fall in this category include, Nokia 5710 XA, Nokia 2660 Flip, Nokia 8210 4G, and more.
