Acer Shadow Knight Neo 16 brings high-refresh rate gaming to the mid-range

Acer has launched the Shadow Knight Neo 16 in China, a new 16-inch gaming laptop designed for players who prioritise smooth, high-frame-rate performance over ultra-thin design or flashy extras.

Powered by Intel’s 14th-gen HX processor and Nvidia’s latest RTX graphics, it positions itself firmly in the upper mid-range, where sustained performance matters more than headline specs. Here’s everything you need to know about this newly launched gaming laptop.

Built around consistent performance

The Acer Shadow Knight Neo 16 is built around Intel’s Core i7-14650HX, a 16-core, 24-thread chip capable of boosting up to 5.2GHz and sustaining up to 110W under load. This is paired with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, configured at up to 115W, which supports DLSS 4 along with updated ray tracing and Tensor cores.

Rather than chasing peak numbers, Acer’s focus here is sustained output. A dual-fan cooling system with high-density blades and oversized heat pipes allows the CPU and GPU to draw up to 170W together without aggressive throttling. In practical terms, that means more stable frame rates in longer gaming sessions, and more predictable performance for creators working with video timelines or 3D workloads.

The display choice reinforces that intent. The 16-inch IPS panel runs at a 2.5K resolution with a 300Hz refresh rate, a combination aimed at players who care about motion clarity and responsiveness rather than raw pixel count.

High refresh rates matter most in competitive titles where smoother frame pacing reduces perceived blur and input lag. The panel also covers 100 percent of the sRGB colour space and reaches 500 nits, making it usable beyond just gaming.

Memory and storage follow a sensible, upgrade-friendly approach. The laptop ships with 16GB of DDR5 RAM at 5600MT/s, expandable up to 64GB, and includes two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots for fast SSD expansion. Connectivity is equally modern, with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 2.5Gb Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, and a USB-C port that supports 100W power delivery.

Acer Shadow Knight Neo 16 price and availability

Launched in China, The Acer Shadow Knight Neo 16 is priced at 8,999 yuan (roughly Rs 1,18,500), and ships with a 250W power adapter. Acer has not yet confirmed availability in other markets, including India or Europe.
