Air frying vs Deep frying: Advantages and benefits of using an Air Fryer

One of the most useful modern kitchen appliances right now is the air fryer; this device works almost magically to quickly prepare tasty snacks. Replacing traditional deep frying with a more hands-off and healthy process, air fryers simply need electricity to run, and help you get fried food prepared efficiently. If you eat a lot of fried food and snacks at home, an air fryer can potentially help make things quicker, easier, and a bit healthier for you and your family.

Air fryers come in different sizes, capacities, and prices, so you can find something that suits your requirements and budget quite easily. Here are the key advantages that air fryers have over traditional deep frying, and how it can benefit you to use an air fryer.

Advantage of air fryer vs deep frying

Health

Traditional deep frying involves immersing the food in oil, which then uses the heat to cook the food. Obviously, this process involves the heavy use of oil, which is absorbed into the food in the process of frying. In comparison, air frying uses little to no oil in the process, generating enough heat to cook the food through the circulation of hot air.

The process of air frying is similar to convection cooking, but the use of air circulation affects the food as deep frying would, creating a crispy exterior and soft interior – typical of the deep frying process. Oil may be used to help with the texture and crispiness of the food, but isn’t necessary in most air fryers. Air fried food is therefore a lot less unhealthy, because of the lack of oil use in the cooking process.

Versatility

You can also use an air fryer to reheat certain types of food conveniently, making it a versatile appliance for the kitchen. Additionally, while many may prefer the taste of traditional deep-fried food, air fryers deliver the true taste of the food without the addition of the oily and greasy texture and feel.

Time and effort

Deep frying is an intensive process; you’ll have to monitor your food as it’s being fried, often turning it over or moving it around to ensure a uniform cook, proper crispiness, and perfect texture. The process also requires the use of materials such as oil, and the heavy use of your stove and LPG. Furthermore, the use of hot oil is always risky, and can lead to injury if you’re not careful.

Air frying, on the other hand, is a much simpler process. You only have to load up the air fryer with your prepared food items and start it up, after which you can leave it till it’s done. The air circulation ensures that the food is cooked evenly all throughout, and you don’t need to move the food items around or flip them at any point. Furthermore, air frying is quicker than deep frying, requires no additional ingredients such as oil, and the appliance itself runs on electricity. Cleaning up after use is also a lot easier as a result.

All of this makes air frying a much more sensible process than deep frying, especially when you look into the health benefits and ease of use. Although the air fryer itself might feel like an expensive purchase at first, the benefits and reduced need for materials such as oil can help make up for the initial cost very quickly.
