Can you use an air cooler without water?
The short answer to the question is no. As it turns out, you cannot use an air cooler without water. One of the parts crucial to an air cooler’s working is their water tank/reservoir, without which cooling isn’t possible.
To understand why it is not possible to use an air cooler with water, one needs to understand how it works.
An air cooler works on the principle of evaporative cooling to cool any room. It works by pulling in hot and dry air from its surroundings and passing it through a wet pad or filter. As the air passes through the wet pad, the water evaporates which in turn cools the air. The cooled air is then circulated back into the room.
Thus, water is an inseparable part of the entire cooling process, and one without which an air cooler just can’t work. Without water to evaporate, the cooling pad or filter will just blow hot air around. It is, however, noteworthy that some air coolers come with the option of using ice instead of water to improve cooling efficiency. But, in general, most air coolers use water to function properly.
