CMF Phone 2 Pro vs CMF Phone 1: What’s different

Nothing’s spin-off brand CMF has launched its second smartphone, dubbed the CMF Phone 2 Pro. Just like the brand’s positioning, the device is available in the budget segment for affordable buyers.

What’s interesting is that the Phone 2 Pro builds on the design of the Phone 1, but brings some notable improvements. But what are the exact differences between the two? Let’s find out in this CMF Phone 2 Pro vs CMF Phone 1 showdown.

CMF Phone 2 Pro vs CMF Phone 1: Design and display

The CMF Phone 2 Pro has an improved design over the CMF Phone 1. Like the Phone 1, the Phone 2 Pro comes in solid colours, but the camera island now looks more minimalistic. Also, there are three cameras now, instead of two on the Phone 1. The semi-modular design retains, with users being able to switch the back cover. The blue and orange covers have a vegan leather finish, adding to its premium feel.

The Phone 2 Pro also comes with a bunch of attachments, including a fold-out stand, cardholder, lanyard, and also a fisheye lens. The CMF Phone 1 lacks a dedicated fisheye lens attachment. Apart from this, the Phone 2 Pro is slightly lighter, coming at 185 grams as opposed to 197 grams or 202 grams weight of the CMF Phone 1 (depending on the back panel).

The CMF Phone 2 Pro features a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Phone 2 Pro gets a brighter 3,000 nits of peak brightness, as compared to the 2,000 nits of peak brightness of the Phone 1. The Phone 1 hasa 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with the same refresh rate and resolution.

The Phone 2 Pro gets the Essential Key with the Essential Space feature, which the Phone 1 lacks. The key lets users capture content with a single press. Unlike the Phone 1’s IP52 rating, the Phone 2 Pro has an improved IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, making it more durable.

CMF Phone 2 Pro vs Phone 1: Cameras

CMF has upped the camera game on the Phone 2 Pro. It boasts a triple-rear camera system with a 50MP 1/1.57” sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 50MP 2x telephoto unit. It supports 20x digital zoom.

The CMF Phone 1, for comparison, has a dual-rear camera with a 50MP 1/1.95 Sony IMX882 sensor and a 2MP portrait unit. Both the Phone 1 and the Phone 2 Pro can shoot 4K videos at 30fps from the rear camera. They also have the same 16MP selfie camera that supports recording 1080p videos at 30fps.

CMF Phone 2 Pro vs Phone 1: Performance, battery, and OS

The CMF Phone 2 Pro draws power from the Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Phone 1, on the other hand, has the Dimensity 7300, the non-pro chipset. It has the same RAM and storage as the Phone 1.
Both phones have the same battery capacity, i.e., a 5,000mAh cell with 33W fast charging.

Since the Phone 2 Pro is new, it boots on Android 15 and has support for three major Android updates. The Phone 1 runs Android 14 out of the box with two years of major Android updates, which means it gets Android 15 and one more Android update. The Phone 2 Pro, however, will get updates till Android 18.
