CMF Buds 2a, Buds 2, and Buds 2 Plus is the trinity of value to beat

It is not everyday that a brand comes and drops four new products, across two categories at a single event. That is what happened when the folks at Nothing’s subsidiary, CMF, took to stage yesterday, take the wraps off the CMF Buds 2a, Buds 2, and Buds 2 Plus along with the CMF Phone 2 Pro. If you want to know more about the Phone 2 Pro, you can read our coverage here –

CMF Phone 2 Pro wants to be make customisation cool again – and it’s surprising affordable

In this article, let’s take a look at what was the scene on the audio side of things.

The new CMF buds carry the signature CMF design

First off, the CMF Buds 2a. These are the most pocket-friendly offering of the lot, but don’t let their Rs 2,199 price tag fool you. They come packed with 12.4mm dynamic driver for punchy bass, 42db Active Noise Cancellation, and a pretty solid claimed battery life of 35.5 hours. When you are out of charge, you can juice them up in 10 minutes to get up to 5.5 hours of battery life. There’s also DIRAC tuning, BT 5.4, ChatGPT integration, which has become a thing for Nothing, and IP54 dust and water resistance rating to round things off.

At number two, we have the middle child, which won’t be ignored because of what it brings to the table, just like its other two siblings, the CMF Buds 2. Priced at Rs 2,699, these earbuds will face competition from its cheaper sibling, because of the minimal pice difference. For Rs 500 more, you get 11mm PMI drivers, Spatial Audio Effect, a bump in the IP Rating from IP54 to IP55, and ultrabass technology 2.0 to round things off.

Last, but not the least, there is the CMF Buds 2 Plus, which comes with a price tag of Rs 3,299. These are the priciest of the lot, and have the looks to support it. Specs wise, there are 6 HD mics for clear calling, 12mm LCP drivers, support for spatial audio, 50db Hybrid ANC, and spatial audio, along with LDAC CODEC support for hi-res music streaming.

From the looks of it, all these three TWS in-ear earphones look to be excellent value proposition, but CMF, is spoiling you with the problem of plenty. Between the CMF Buds that were launched, and the CMF Buds and Buds 2 Pro still available, you will have to make a rather tough choice, if you are planning to step into this ecosystem.
