As revealed earlier, YouTube Premium offers an ad-free experience with a whole host of additional benefits compared to the free YouTube experience. Here are all the different membership options, their respective features, pricing, as well as how to subscribe to YouTube Premium.

Membership Options

There are three main YouTube Premium memberships: Individual, Family, and Student.

1. Individual:

This plan is designed for a single user and offers all the core YouTube Premium benefits, such as the ability to download videos for offline watching, picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, premium badges and a lot more.

2. Family:

This plan allows up to 5 family members (age 13+) living in the same household to share a single subscription. Everyone gets their own account and personalized recommendations.

3. Student:

This discounted plan is available for eligible students and comes with the same features and benefits as the individual plan. However, to stay on the Student plan, verification is required annually.

Pricing and subscription

YouTube Premium offers both monthly and annual billing options (except for students). Here’s a breakdown of the pricing:

1. Individual

YouTube Premium offers a monthly plan of Rs 129 (with a 1-month free trial for new members) For a monthly subscription, automatic payments such as credit cards, BHIM UPI, or debit cards are required and the billing recurs monthly. However, you can cancel and opt-out anytime you like. There is also a three-month plan for Rs 399 and an annual plan for Rs 1290, which does not auto-renew. 

2. Family:

YouTube Premium offers a single family plan that is billed monthly and costs Rs 189, along with a one-month free trial for new members.

3. Student:

The platform also offers a single monthly plan for students which costs Rs 79 and a one-month free trial for new members. 

How to subscribe to YouTube Premium

Subscribing to YouTube Premium just takes a couple of minutes and requires you to:

1. Visit the YouTube Premium sign-up page https://www.youtube.com/premium.

2. Choose your preferred plan (Individual, Family, or Student). If you’re eligible, select the option for the student discount by verifying your Student ID.

3. Click “Try it free” to start your free trial. (Only available for new members)

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your payment information. YouTube accepts various payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, as well as UPI.
