Classic arc returns with modern polish

Dragon Ball Super Beerus remaster confirmed for 2026; trailer released

Dragon Ball Super is being remastered! At the Dragon Ball Genkidama Matsuri event in Japan, the franchise confirmed a remastered anime titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.

It’s scheduled to arrive in Autumn 2026, and a new trailer gave fans their first proper look at the upgraded version, and it’s clear that this is not just a visual touch-up.

The project revisits the Dragon Ball Beerus arc with modern production tools and a level of care that suggests it’s not just a quick nostalgia play. The remaster has reportedly been in development for several years.

A full remaster, not a cosmetic update

According to details shared alongside the trailer, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus features newly animated sequences, reworked scenes, and a complete re-render of existing footage. Voice performances have been rerecorded, and the soundtrack has been rebuilt with updated music and sound design to better match the scale of the action.

The intention, as described by the team, is to bring the arc closer to Akira Toriyama’s original vision using current animation technology. The result should look sharper, heavier, and more cinematic, without losing the tone that made the arc such a turning point for the anime series.

Beerus returns as Super expands again

The trailer wastes no time reintroducing Beerus, the God of Destruction, and his first encounter with Goku. Their clash, which famously reshaped Dragon Ball’s power scale, is shown with more visual weight and tighter pacing. Beerus’ overwhelming strength is front and centre, even as Goku pushes toward his god-level transformation.

Alongside the remaster, the event also confirmed a brand-new series titled Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol. Set after the Universe Survival Arc, it continues the Super storyline beyond its original 2015–2018 run. Alongside, a new Dragon Ball Z game dubbed Age 1000 was also announced.
