Samsung is pushing ahead with its software roadmap with the latest One UI 8.5 Beta 2. It has started rolling out in India for Galaxy S25 users, bringing a round of fixes and refinements rather than any headline-grabbing visual overhaul.
Built on top of Android 16, One UI 8.5 sits in an interesting middle ground. It follows the major platform update that landed earlier this year and will likely be the final stop before Samsung turns its attention to One UI 9 in 2026. For now, this beta release is about tightening the screws rather than redesigning the room. Here’s everything that’s new.
One UI 8.5 Beta 2: What's new and which phones get it?
This is very much a refinement-focused update. Samsung has addressed several issues reported in the first beta, including bugs related to the Gallery app, call handling in the Phone app, and a handful of stability problems that caused unexpected reboots.
The update also brings convenient camera functionalities, such as Dual Recording and Single Take, which are accessible through the Camera Assistant feature.
The interface itself remains largely unchanged, which feels intentional given Samsung’s tendency to reserve major visual shifts for full version jumps.

The Beta 2 update is currently limited to Samsung’s 2025 flagship lineup. If you are using the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ or Galaxy S25 Ultra in India, the update should now be available via the One UI 8.5 beta program. Notably, the Galaxy S25 Edge is missing from the initial rollout, suggesting it may join the beta at a later stage.
How to join the One UI beta program?
Signing up remains straightforward. Galaxy S25 users can register through the Samsung Members app by logging in with their Samsung account and enrolling via the One UI 8.5 Beta Program banner. Once registered, the beta update can be downloaded and installed like any standard software update.
For now, One UI 8.5 Beta 2 feels more like a promise of things settling into place rather than a preview of the future. Has your S25 phone got the latest Beta? Drop a comment with your thoughts and stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for the latest updates about all things tech.
