Garmin is back with another smartwatch in its Fenix series, and this one appears to be ready to take on the upcoming Apple Watch Ultra. It comes with a microLED display, satellite connectivity, and a marathon battery life. Here’s everything you need to know.
Everything special about the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro
The Garmin Fenix 8 Pro is a rugged device, featuring a thick chassis. You get a choice between a 47mm AMOLED screen or a 51mm microLED variant. The latter comprises over 4,00,000 LEDs and has a maximum brightness of 4,500, making it perfect for outdoors.
The smartwatch also brings in-built speakers, a mic for voice calls, and an LED flashlight that’s bright enough when it’s dark. It also has topo-active maps and comes with several fitness modes.
For training, you get guided plans including strength training, endurance, trail runs, and more. It also has 24/7 heart rate tracking for those who are health-conscious.

The smartwatch also comes with features like Garmin InReach that lets you use emergency services. And since it comes with a mix of satellite and cellular connectivity, you can send and receive emergency or text messages via Garmin’s Messenger app. It also has a battery that lasts weeks, depending on the usage.
How much does the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro cost?
The Fenix 9 Pro starts at $1,200 (about Rs 1,05,000) for the 47mm AMOLED variant $1,999.99 (about Rs 1,76,000) for the larger 51mm microLED variant. Buyers will also receive a two-year warranty.
For that price, the Fenix 8 Pro becomes an expensive piece of wearable, but one that has all the bells and whistles. In the same segment, you can also check out the Apple Watch Ultra 2 or the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The former may get an upgraded version later this month.
