The Lancer is revving up again. Gears of War: Reloaded, a faithfully remastered, visually souped-up version of the iconic 2006 shooter, is officially landing on August 26, 2025. Priced at $39.99, which equates to around Rs 3,400, the game comes to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam, and, for the first time ever, PlayStation 5.
More than anything, the PS5 release of the game, marks an important event towards opening up ecosystems to enable cross platform play. Joining Minecraft and the Forza games, this is a rare exclusive from Microsoft, that is making its way to PS5.
What’s new in Gears of War: Reloaded?
Well, everything, and that too, without losing what made Gears unforgettable in the first place. Built in partnership with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief, and led by The Coalition, Reloaded isn’t just a cosmetic upgrade, it’s the full Gears of War: Ultimate Edition experience, only sharper, faster, and more accessible.
Think 4K visuals, up to 120 FPS in multiplayer, Dolby Atmos, and even zero loading screens in the campaign. And yes, every bit of DLC, including the bonus campaign act , comes standard.

For Xbox veterans, there’s a nice surprise. If you bought the digital Ultimate Edition before May 5, you’re getting Reloaded for free.
If you are a multiplayer fan, then this game has you covered. It’s got cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms. Whether you’re couch-splitting with your brother on Xbox or teaming up with friends on PS5 and PC, you’re good to go, even without a Microsoft account. And if you do sign in, your progress syncs no matter where you’re playing.
For many, Gears was the game that defined squad-based shooters. College dorms, living room LAN parties, late-night marathons; this was the game that brought friends together. With Reloaded, it’s not just a relaunch. It’s a reunion.
Whether you’re revisiting Delta Squad or jumping in for the first time, Gears of War: Reloaded is more than nostalgia. It’s the definitive way to chainsaw through the Locust, with style. And, with GTA VI also on the horizon, we definitely see a lot of OGs of gaming coming back to their battle stations, ready to take on the challenge. Revitalised, and passionate.
