Gemini now generates answers even faster with this new addition

Google is rolling out a neat little addition to its Gemini app that should make getting quick answers less of a hassle. It’s called the Answer Now button, and it does exactly what you’d expect.

Gemini normally waits for a response if the Thinking or Pro models are selected, sometimes even for simpler questions. Now when it does that, a new button shows up next to the spinning status indicator. Tap it and Gemini will cut its research/thinking short and answer your query quickly.

Sometimes you just need a quick answer

What’s interesting here is that this doesn’t just switch you over to the Fast model. Gemini will still use whatever model you’ve selected – it just produces a quicker, less thorough response.

That’s actually pretty handy if you want to stay on Pro or Thinking for more complex follow-up questions but don’t need all that processing power for a basic query. The update is going live today for both free and paid users across Android, iOS, and the web.

Along with all of this, Google also tweaked the usage limits for its AI tiers. AI Pro subscribers now get 300 Thinking prompts per day and 100 Pro prompts per day. AI Ultra users get considerably more – 1,500 Thinking prompts and 500 Pro prompts daily. Free users still have access to both models, though Google just labels that as “Basic access.”

You won’t see that Answer Now button if you’re already on the Fast model, which makes sense. That one’s designed for speed from the start.

In other Gemini news, Google recently launched a Personal Intelligence feature that lets the chatbot connect to your Gmail, Photos, and YouTube history to give more tailored responses.

This is currently in beta for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the US, and it’s off by default. You can pick which apps Gemini has access to, and future updates are expected to bring Google Calendar, Drive, and other Workspace apps into the mix.
