Don't just see, not you can hear your reactions

After emojis, ‘Audiomojis’ could be the next thing making your conversations exciting

Emojis have been in existence for time immemorial and have also evolved to keep up with our fast-paced digital lives. In fact, phone manufacturers like Apple have now rolled out emojis for every possible mood. But if you thought there was no scope for any further development, you were wrong!

Google is reportedly working on a new feature that could allow users to react with an audio emoji during calls. Temporarily christened ‘Audiomojis’, the reactions will be a part of the Google app and were observed in a beta version by AssembleDebug on X (formerly Twitter).

Audiomojis by Google: What's there to know?

The feature is said to allow users to react with a sound effect during an ongoing call. So far, there have been six confirmed sound effects; these include sad, laugh, applause, celebrate, drumroll and poop. On selecting, each sound effect will also play a supporting animation on the screen.

According to the post, Audiomojis have been in development since last year. However, they were earlier known as ‘sound reactions’. While it seemed like Google earlier removed this feature, it was later revealed in a beta version with a different name.

How to use Audiomojis on Google

It remains unclear as to how Audiomojis will eventually be available on the Google app. One possibility suggests how this feature could be available to users with the ‘call screen feature’.

Apart from this, it is still not known if this feature will be seen and heard by both parties on call, or only the ones who have activated Audiomojis on their smartphones.

While the addition of Audiomojis seems to be a fun addition to our day-to-day conversations, it remains to be seen how popular they will eventually be among users. With several other ways to react already in existence, the feature could only be an addition to apps like Messages or Instagram that allow users to express themselves. But having said that, the poop reaction might just be a welcome addition to many conversations!
