Google has lifted the lid on its newest Nest gear and Google Home Speaker, this time infused with Gemini’s smarts. These devices use an amped-up version of Google’s AI assistant, dubbed ‘Gemini for Home‘ to provide useful insights and contextual information. Here’s everything you need to know.
AI-powered Nest portfolio gets contextual AI smarts
The new Nest Cam Indoor (3rd gen), Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd gen), and Nest Doorbell (3rd gen) now stream in 2K HDR, capturing sharper detail and offering up to a 166-degree diagonal view. Rated IP65, they can withstand dust, rain, or even a misfiring garden sprinkler.

But the real shift is less about pixels and more about perception. Instead of bland “motion detected” pings, these devices use Gemini for Home to serve instant context. Imagine getting an alert that says your dog just leapt out of its playpen, or asking, “What happened to the vase in the living room?” and instantly receiving the relevant clip.
A new “Home Brief” feature even condenses hours of footage into highlight reels, which makes surveillance feel more contextual and useful.
A speaker that glows when it thinks
The other big reveal is the new Google Home Speaker, designed to take full advantage of Gemini for Home. Built for 360-degree audio, it can be paired with a second unit for stereo or linked with a Google TV Streamer to mimic a surround system. Its light ring isn’t just cosmetic, the shifting glow signals when Gemini is listening, reasoning, or flipping into “Gemini Live” mode.

Conversations with the speaker are meant to feel more natural too, thanks to custom processing that runs Gemini’s AI locally. You can still ask for weather updates, but it’s smarter at managing connected devices with intuition, dimming the lights, syncing routines, or summarising the day with less prompting.
The speaker also includes a physical mic-mute toggle, comes in four shades including Porcelain, Hazel, Jade, and Berry. It also ships with all the expected Google Home and Nest integrations.
