Rockstar has been teasing us with GTA 6 trailers since December 2023. Fast forward to early 2025, and the developers announced a release date of May 2026. But, the launch has now been delayed yet again, and the game is now scheduled to arrive in the winter next year.
If you are a fan of the GTA franchise and can’t wait to get your hands on the upcoming GTA 6, here’s when it’s finally launching and all that you can expect.
GTA 6 launch date and availability
Grand Theft Auto VI, or GTA 6, has been officially delayed once again, and it’s now set to launch on November 19, 2026. Previously, the game was set to arrive on May 26, 2026, which means it’s a six-month delay.
It’s unclear if the game will be exclusive to consoles initially or if it will be available across platforms at launch. Notably, Rockstar launched the PC version of GTA 5, almost two years after its console release.
Why the delay?
Rockstar says the extra time will help the team deliver a game that meets the “level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” Ever since the release of the first trailer, the expectations have risen. And with the second trailer, which gave us a closer look at the characters, the hype went all over.
Apparently, the developer is under pressure, and Rockstar probably wants to make this release right. Hence, they are taking their sweet time getting things right at launch, and we are in for it. After all, it’s better to get a polished game at launch than an unoptimised title.
