GTA 6 may launch in September this year; here’s what to expect

It’s been more than a year since we got the first official trailer of the much-anticipated game, Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6). While Rockstar Games was expected to give us more details or possibly a second trailer of the game in late 2024, that unfortunately, didn’t happen.

But fret not. GTA 6’s release appears to be not too far away, as now a new report suggests a possible release timeline of H2 2025. The game may arrive on the same date that GTA 5 was released. Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

GTA 6 release timeline

According to a product listing (now removed) on a Spanish store, XUruguay, Rockstar’s much-awaited title, Grand Theft Auto VI or GTA 6, will launch on September 17. Now, that’s a specific date, and if you are a GTA fanatic, you might know that GTA 5 was released on the same date in 2013.

If we go by this GTA 6 release timeline, the game’s release isn’t too far away. However, like any other such reports and listings, this isn’t an official confirmation, which means we’ll have to wait for Rockstar to confirm the game’s official release date.

While we wait for the release date to arrive, here’s everything you can expect from the upcoming Rockstar title.

What to expect from GTA 6?

GTA 6 is expected to have two main protagonists: a male protagonist called Jason and a female protagonist named Lucia. These two fictional characters are said to be inspired by two American criminals from the 1930s named Bonnie and Clyde.

The game will be set in the fictional state of Leonida, which is based on Florida. The world in the game will look very much like Vice City, as seen in the trailer.

Apart from the characters and the in-game world, the title will also introduce new gore mechanics, and feature different pets and animals, including flamingos and cats, among others. Furthermore, the title will also introduce new games which we haven’t seen in any other GTA titles.

Players could be able to play a 3v3 basketball game with their in-game friends. GTA 6 will also feature several enterable buildings, new cars with deeper customization options, and more clubs.

While the launch of the game appears near, the title is first expected to arrive on consoles, like the PlayStation 5, and then land on platforms like Steam and Epic Games for PCs and laptops.

That’s all we know about Rockstar’s next GTA title. What are your thoughts about the game? Are you willing to pre-book it once it arrives? Do let us know in the comments below.
