Ever wish your camera could survive a cliff dive, shoot like a cinema rig, and edit your footage while you sip your post-hike espresso? Well, that wish is now a reality, with the launch of the Insta360 X5. This 360 degree action camera is the newest flagship from the one of the most well recognised names in the world of 360 degree cameras, Insta360, and possibly the most intelligent action cam ever strapped to a selfie stick.
This small camera packs a serious punch
Let’s start with image quality. The X5’s new 1/1.28 inch sensors are 144 per cent larger than those on its predecessor, allowing for stunning 8K 30fps footage with unmatched clarity and depth, even in the dark. Thanks to PureVideo, its AI-enhanced low-light mode, those dusky motorcycle rides or stargazing adventures will shine in full cinematic detail. It’s also packing serious muscle under the hood with a Triple AI Chip system that makes light work of noise and compression artifacts.

For travelers and solo content creators, the camera’s standout feature might just be InstaFrame Mode. Imagine filming a spontaneous beach picnic with friends, where the X5 will instantly give you a shareable flat video and a 360 degree version to reframe later. No stress about missing the perfect angle.
And then there’s the durability. X5’s replaceable lens system is a first in its class, meaning if your lens meets a rock face mid-hike, you won’t need to shelve your camera, or your plans. It’s waterproof to 49ft, has a new wind guard, and can shoot for up to three hours straight. There’s even a feature where a quick twist of your selfie stick starts filming. Seriously, that’s impressive.
At launch, the Insta360 X5 is priced at US$549.99, which comes to Rs 47,000 approximately. This is a steep price tag for a camera this small. However, for the folks who can make use of the capabilities of this camera, it will definitely be a worthy purchase.
