Apple has launched its latest iPhone 16 series, which get a host of new upgrades and features, and will run iOS 18 out-of-the-box. But what about the older iPhones? When will they get the iOS 18 update? Read on to find out.

When is iOS 18 rolling out?

Apple has revealed that the iOS 18 update will start rolling out to supported iPhone models from September 16. As is the tradition, the update should arrive as a notification to users at around 10:30 PM IST.

iOS 18: What’s new?

At WWDC earlier this year, Apple announced iOS 18 with a bunch of new features and customisation options. For instance, the home screen can now be personalised with the ability to relocate apps and widgets. Additionally, the update will also allow users to customise colours and apply new icon designs to the apps.

iOS 18: Compatible in older models

Apple has confirmed that iOS 18 will be made available to a range of older iPhones. These include iPhone XR and higher, as well as the iPhone SE (second-generation).

Among the highlights of iOS 18 is Apple Intelligence, which is a range of AI features coming to iPhones. Apple has revealed that this suite of AI features will start rolling out some time in October as a part of the iOS 18.1 update.
