Remember the time when you had to carry that thick and chunky battery case for your iPhone? Well, that was the time when iPhones barely got you through the day.
It looks like we are moving backwards, as the upcoming iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to be so thin that it might force you to use a battery case. Here’s everything you need to know.
All about the upcoming iPhone 17 Air
According to a report by theinformation, the iPhone 17 Air might feature a small battery, resulting in a ‘worse’ battery life. This will be largely due to its slim design. For the unversed, the iPhone 17 Air might have a thickness of 5.5mm, making it the thinnest iPhone to date.
Having a thin design may take a toll on the battery capacity. But Apple appears to have an old trick here that it might use to offset the battery life on the iPhone 17 Air. It’s a rather familiar one – the battery case!
Yes, you read that right, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air may come with a battery case that will get you through a working day. Notably, Apple last released battery cases for the iPhone 11 lineup, followed by the Apple official MagSafe battery packs, which got discontinued a few years back.
The exact battery capacity of the iPhone 17 Air and its battery case is still unknown. But it appears that with a battery case, users may easily get a full day of usage.

A smaller battery isn’t the only trade-off you might experience with the iPhone 17 Air. Apple is also reported to offer a single speaker and a single camera. The device may also lack a physical SIM card slot, forcing users to use an eSIM.
Other than this, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature Apple’s A19 chipset, which could be more power efficient. Expect iOS 19 and some new Apple Intelligence features.
That’s all we know so far about the upcoming iPhone 17 Air. More details including its launch date and price are yet to be known. Until then, stay tunned to Croma Unboxed for more news about Apple.
