Tablets have been around for a while, but if you’ve never considered adding it in your setup, you might be missing out. Sure, your smartphone handles almost everything – calls, texts, emails, endless Instagram scrolling, and the occasional attempt at productivity. But let’s be honest, when it comes to binge-watching content comfortably and powering through office spreadsheets, you need something bigger.
Laptops or desktops might sound like the obvious solution, but they’re not always convenient. After all, you don’t want to set up a full workstation just to read or edit some part of a document or to catch up on a show. That’s where tablets step in.
A large-screen tablet with a good display, solid performance, a big battery, and accessory support can be just the perfect device for most of your entertainment and productivity needs on the go. The all-new Lenovo Idea Tab Pro seems to exactly match that description. Having spent over a month with it, here’s our Lenovo Idea Tab Pro review.
Lenovo Idea Tab Pro design
From the moment you take the tablet out of the box, you’ll feel the premium metal build. The Idea Tab Pro is a well-built machine that easily tops other contenders in the segment. That premium build, however, adds some heft to the device.
Now, heft is something you can expect given its large 12.7-inch screen. It weighs over half a kg; 620 grams to be precise. For comparison, the Xiaomi Pad 7 weighs 500 grams, but it also has a slightly smaller 11.2-inch display.

The tablet sports dual-tone look on the back and has a power button on the top. The volume rockers are located on the right edge, and the USB-C port and the stereo speaker setup is at the bottom. There are also Pogo PINs and a magnetic holder on the left side where you can magnetically attach the Tab Pen Plus as well as the magnetic keyboard accessory.
Lenovo Idea Tab Pro display
The Idea Tab Pro features a 12.7-inch screen, and we must say that it’s a beautiful panel to look at. It may not be an AMOLED or OLED panel, but a good-quality LCD with sharp visuals. It has a 3K resolution and a 144Hz gaming-ready screen, which provides smooth scrolls. It boasts a 16:9 aspect ratio, meaning you can enjoy almost any form of content.

We were glued to the screen while binge on You and Detective Conan on Netflix. It also has HDR support in case you are wondering, so your entertainment game is sorted.
One letdown with the display is the modest brightness levels. The panel only has 400 nits of brightness, which is enough for indoor usage, but in the noon with sunlight coming into the room, you may find yourself tilting the screen for better visibility.
Lenovo Idea Tab Pro performance
Coming to performance, the Idea Tab Pro delivers exceptional performance for the price you’re paying. The MediaTek Dimensity 8300 under the hood is a mid-range chipset and handles most tasks effortlessly. Whether you are diving into productivity tasks or indulging in gaming sessions, it delivers a fluid, responsive experience.

We had a great time racking up wins in BGMI and drifting through the streets in CarXStreet. In the former, you get to play at Extreme+ frame rates, and it’s quite an enjoyable experience.

Barring heavy usage, we faced no issues in day-to-day tasks. From checking spreadsheets to browsing the web, it’s a seamless experience. With 12GB of RAM inside, juggling multiple apps in the background is a breeze, and multitasking feels effortless and blissful.
Multitasking is where the tablet experience truly shines. We had YouTube playing on the left and the notes app open in the right, effortlessly jotting down notes – even during metro commutes. This is a kind of seamless usage that neither laptops nor smartphones can pull off.
Lenovo Idea Tab Pro battery
Amongst other tablets in this segment, the Idea Tab Pro stands out with its massive 10,200mAh battery – the largest in its class. This monstrous battery is enough for two or more days with moderate usage.

Last weekend, we got a bit lazy and entirely relied on the Idea Tab Pro for all our entertainment needs. We watched about four to five YouTube videos, completed an hour of reading session, and wandered around on the streets in CarXStreet – all with only about 30 per cent of drain.
Lenovo Idea Tab Pro audio performance and accessories
While tablets are meant for entertainment needs, they don’t always have a good quality speaker. The Idea Tab Pro, however, has a beast of an audio setup. It packs stereo speakers tuned by JBL, and they are so loud that they might replace your Bluetooth speakers.
Amongst the highlights of the Idea Tab Pro is also the stylus support. Lenovo calls it the Tab Pen Plus, which surprisingly ships in the box. It was quite useful to jot down notes, use as a camera shutter button, and to actually use the Circle to Search feature.

Apart from the Tab Pen Plus, the tablet also supports a magnetic keyboard, which may just be the productivity upgrade you need. But unfortunately, we didn’t get to test it, as the keyboard didn’t ship with our review unit.
The Idea Tab Pro also comes with useful features like PC mode in Zen UI, which allows you to use the tablet as a full-fledged desktop. While it runs Android 14 out of the box, we expect Lenovo to push Android 15 soon.
Unboxed Take: Who should buy the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro?
For its current price of Rs 25,999, the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro is an easy recommendation for those who want the ultimate media consumption and productivity experience without breaking their bank. It’s got an all-metal premium build, crisp screen, powerful performance, a great battery life, and most importantly good accessory support.
For all the above reasons, we rate the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro 4/5. If you’re looking for alternatives, the likes of the Xiaomi Pad 7 and the pricier OnePlus Pad 2 are definitely worth your consideration.
