Lenovo goes OLED with Legion Go 2; gives it a 50% bigger battery

Lenovo has officially unveiled the Legion Go 2 at its Innovation World 2025 event, revealing a second-generation Windows handheld console that packs some serious upgrades. The new device is clearly aimed at addressing the biggest complaints about the original, with a stunning new display and a much-needed battery boost.

A premium, portable powerhouse

The most noticeable change is the 8.8-inch screen which is now an OLED panel. The resolution has been dropped from 1600p to a more sensible 1200p. The new display also boasts a buttery-smooth 144Hz refresh rate with VRR support for tear-free gaming. It also features HDR TrueBlack 1000 certification promising vibrant colours and deep blacks.

Under the bonnet, the Legion Go 2 can be configured with up to an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor and a whopping 32GB of RAM. For storage, you can get up to a 2TB internal SSD with a microSD slot that supports another 2TB.

Another huge improvement is the battery life. Lenovo has swapped the original’s 49Whr cell for a 74Whr battery, which is a massive 50 per cent increase in capacity.

As for the overall design, it looks familiar but is slightly thicker and heavier. It keeps the two USB-C 4.0 ports for convenient charging. The detachable Legion TrueStrike controllers have been redesigned with more ergonomic lines, a smoother feel, and a smarter button layout including three programmable buttons. Lenovo even added a fingerprint reader into the power button.

This premium package comes with a premium price tag. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is set to go on sale in October with a starting price of $1,049 (approximately Rs 92,600) in the US for the base model. Considering the outgoing model arrived in India, there’s a good chance this newer model would follow.
