Lenovo Legion Slim series: Top 5 exciting features to look out for

Lenovo has officially unveiled its latest iteration of its gaming flagship Legion series of gaming laptops, the Legion Slim series.

Don’t be fooled, though. These laptops are unlike most other offerings from Legion, and gaming laptops in general. The line-up, which consists of four devices, the Legion Slim 7i and 7, and the Legion Slim 5i and 5, is aimed at both — those looking for a device that can handle heavy gaming as well as content creation in the form of photo and video editing, as well as streaming, all on the go, with its lightweight, portable design.

If you’re wondering why you should consider this for your next laptop, here’s a little round-up of the top five features of the Legion Slim series to look out for:

Power-packed processors

The AI-tuned Legion Slim gaming laptops are offered with processor options from both Intel as well as AMD.

The Legion Slim 7 and 7i can be had with up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H processor, or an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS, with 32GB of DDR5 RAM. Furthermore, they both feature the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, which provides for a smooth, unhindered gaming experience, as well as editing.

The Legion Slim 5 and 5i on the other hand, can be had with up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700H processor and an AMD Ryzen 9 7840HS processor respectively. They are also offered with 32 GB of RAM, upgradeable up to 64GB.

The Lenovo Legion Slim series laptops are also offered with up to 3 months of free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, as well as access to Nahimic by SteelSeries 3D immersive audio drivers, providing for an even more enhanced auido-visual experience.

AI optimised performance

The Lenovo Legion Slim 5, 5i, 7 and 7i are offered with Lenovo’s new LA AI chip, which powers the Lenovo AI Engine+. The Lenovo AI Engine+ is a machine-learning algorithm which can learn one’s usage patterns and modify the system settings accordingly to elevate the system’s performance and user experience. If that’s not all, users can also tune the system’s performance manually via the Lenovo Vantage app.

Slim and lightweight design

Unlike most other gaming laptops, the Legion Slim series has been designed with easy portability in mind. Being touted as the world’s most portable 16-inch laptops, the Legion Slim 7 and 7i feature an all-metal design, and are 19mm thick and weigh under 2KGs. The Legion Slim 5 and 5i are no slouches either, and are just 19.7mm thin, and weight about 2.3KGs.

The Legion Slim 7 and 7i laptops come with 16-inch Lenovo PureSight gaming displays with up to 500 nits of peak brightness. The Legion Slim 5 and 5i also feature a similar display, which has up to a 240Hz variable refresh rate, proving for an extremely immersive gameplay experience. What’s more, there is also a 14-inch Legion Slim 5 variant which can be had with an OLED panel.

All four models, the Legion Slim 5 and 5i, as well as the 7 and 7i, feature the full size Legion TrueStrike keyboard, featuring the Legion Spectrum four-zone RGB lighting system. Furthermore, it is also customisable with replaceable W-A-S-D keycaps.

Uninterrupted usage, on-the-go

One of the biggest niggles one has with gaming laptops is short battery lives, owing to their specs, and often heavy usage. However, the same is well taken care of with the Legion Slim series.

The Legion Slim 7 and 7i feature up to a 99.99 Whr Super Rapid Charge battery. The rapid charge support provides for charging from 0-100% in as short a time span as 80 minutes, via a 230W slim adapter. Additionally, both USB Type-C ports on the device support 140W charging.

The Legion Slim 5 and 5i on the other hand, feature up to an 80 Whr battery. Its batteries also support super rapid charge,  which means reduced charging times, same as the 7 and 7i. Additionally, the 5 and 5i’s USB ports too, support 140W charging.

The Legion Slim series is also Wi-Fi 7 supported, providing for super fast internet speeds. Both the 5 and 5i, as well as the 7 and 7i, offer up to ten hours of uninterrupted usage, depending on one’s workload.

Laptops that are for you, by you

Available from a starting price of Rs 1,61,990, Lenovo offers with its latest Legion Slim line-up of laptops a Custom to Order (CTO) option, which permits one to customise a base model set-up of the laptop as per their requirements and budget. The customised device takes about 25 days to be delivered to customers as per Lenovo. However, this provision is available only Lenovo.com.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 and 7i devices are available in two colours — storm grey and glacier white, with the added option of a white backlight rather than the RGB. The Legion 5 and 5i on the other hand, are available in storm grey and a misty grey. Similar to the Legion Slim 7 and 7i though, they can also be had with an all-white backlit keyboard.
