Minecraft 26.1 Snapshot 8 adds last wave of baby mobs

Minecraft’s latest test build has arrived, and it is bringing one last wave of miniature mayhem with it. Minecraft 26.1 Snapshot 8 introduces the final batch of redesigned baby mobs, rounding off Mojang’s recent refresh of the game’s tiniest residents.

After earlier snapshots gave farm animals, aquatic creatures, and even hostile mobs a redesigned baby form, Mojang clearly realised there were a few stragglers left. This update completes the set, and it is now live in the Java Snapshot and the latest Bedrock Preview for players who want to take the changes for a spin.

Final set of redesigned baby mobs in Minecraft

The newly remodelled baby mobs include hoglins, zoglins, striders, pandas, and sniffers. Each one has been subtly reworked to better reflect its adult counterpart while leaning into that unmistakable Minecraft charm.

Baby hoglins now sport tiny tusks, faint stripes, and a smaller build. They still belong to one of the Nether’s more aggressive species, but at this size they look less like a charging threat and more like something that squeaks before it headbutts you.

Zoglins, on the other hand, have not become any less unsettling. Their shrunken form keeps the same eerie energy as their adult versions, just condensed into a smaller, jittery package.

Baby striders now wear a permanently unimpressed expression, which feels oddly fitting given their lava-walking lifestyle. You will still need to wait until they grow up before saddling one for a Nether commute, but at least the ride now starts with some added personality.

Sniffers, or rather snifflets in their younger form, look like scaled-down versions of the ancient mob, complete with an oversized snout that makes them appear even more curious. They are instantly recognisable and arguably more endearing than ever.

Baby pandas steal the spotlight

It would not be a baby mob update without pandas threatening to take over the internet again. The redesigned baby pandas are all fluff and wobbly energy, and they are just as chaotic as you would expect. You can find them in bamboo jungles, or breed adult pandas if you prefer to engineer your own bundle of trouble.

Snapshot 8 forms part of the first major game drop planned for this spring, meaning these redesigns are likely a sign of what is coming in the full release. For now, players on Java and Bedrock Preview can jump in and decide which one of these tiny critters deserves the “cutest baby mob” crown.
