Nike’s Project Amplify is a robo-shoe designed to make your runs feel lighter and easier

Nike has showcased its next pair of shoes. But these aren’t your everyday runners. Well, they are, but not what you’d expect from Nike. Dubbed Project Amplify, it’s what Nike calls the ‘powered footwear system’ designed to make your everyday runs feel lighter and easier.

They are aimed at increasing your pace while ensuring you don’t get worn out after long jogs. Sounds good? Here’s all you need to know about Nike’s new robo-shoe.

What’s Nike’s Project Amplify all about?

Project Amplify is a powered footwear designed to assist you while running. It’s a tech-packed system, comprising a cuff with a battery wrapped around the calf that links to a motorised arm, which further connects to your shoe’s heel. Every step gets a little boost from the motor, amplifying your natural stride rather than replacing it.

Nike says that this shoe will speed up your runs and improve your overall performance. The brand is targeting a pace of 10 to 12 minutes per mile. The goal is better endurance and less fatigue, so you get the joy of running without being worn out.

Before you get excited, let us tell you that you can’t exactly buy this robo-shoe. It’s currently in test mode, and Nike has partnered with Dephy for the same, which makes its own bionic footwear.

As of now, 400 testers have logged over 2.4 million steps in trials with this robo-shoe.
