The rumour mills have been rife with speculations about the OnePlus 12. However, OnePlus has decided to put some of them to rest, particularly with reference to the design. The company has just revealed the official design renders and colour options ahead of the December launch.

At first look, OnePlus’ upcoming smartphone seems to take a lot of design cues from its predecessor, the OnePlus 11. On the back, it retains a large, offset camera island design similar to the OnePlus 11, and the glass finish in contrast to the rest of the device.

The circular module houses three camera lenses and a pair of sensors featuring the Hasselblad logo. The phone’s flashlight, similar to the recently launched OnePlus Open, is placed outside the circular module, however.

On the front, the bezels aren’t quite uniform, with the bottom bezel being slightly thicker than the rest. Moreover, the punch-hole cutout for the front camera seems to have been moved to the center on the OnePlus 12, as compared to the offset design on its predecessor. The renders also confirm that the device will feature a curved display.

The new OnePlus 12, as per the renders, seems to feature a metal frame, with an IR blaster on the top, and the iconic alert slider, which has now been moved to the left.

OnePlus’s renders and teaser video confirm that its latest device will be available in three colourways – black, white, and a flowy emerald green colours. While the black variant seems to retain a matt finish similar to previous models, the white and emerald green variants seem to feature a glossy finish. Moreover, the emerald green variant also has a textured design, which OnePlus says, takes inspiration from the Dart River.

OnePlus 12 expected specifications and features

The new OnePlus 12 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset for smartphones – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It is expected to come in three variants – with 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB of RAM respectively. Under the hood, the OnePlus 12 is expected to sport a 5,400mAh battery, with support for 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

The device’s display, which may be manufactured by BEO, is expected to be a 6.82-inch LTPO display boasting a 2K resolution and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. The OnePlus 12 is also expected to feature a stereo-speaker setup, for audio.

On the optics front, the OnePlus 12 may feature a Sony LYTIA808 primary rear camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, as well as a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. On the front, the device is expected to feature a 32MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

OnePlus 12 launch

The new OnePlus 12 will be announced in China on December 5, to coincide with the company’s 10th anniversary. The smartphone is then expected to go on sale in other international markets, including India, sometime in January.
