Oppo launches K13 Turbo series in India with built-in cooling fan technology

Oppo has just unleashed its new K13 Turbo series in India, a pair of gaming phones packing a wild feature that the company claims is a first for the country, a built-in cooling fan.

The K13 Turbo Pro 5G and K13 Turbo 5G are built specifically to tackle the biggest problems that mobile gamers face today – excessive generation of heat and poor battery life. Let’s dive into why this phone stands out.

With great power must come greater cooling

Starting with the centrepiece of this launch, the cooling fan. Oppo calls it the Storm Engine, and this is a miniature, high-efficiency air cooling system featuring a fan that spins at 18,000 RPM.

Oppo claims this setup boosts airflow by 220 percent and can cut device temperatures by up to four degrees Celsius during intense gameplay. The company even managed to waterproof the entire fan module. This active system works alongside a large vapour chamber and graphite layers to keep performance from throttling.

All that cooling power should help churn out more power from the powerful chipset inside. The K13 Turbo Pro 5G packs the flagship-grade Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. The standard K13 Turbo 5G runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8450, a chip also designed for efficient but high-output gaming performance.

To ensure these phones can survive marathon sessions, Oppo stuffed a monstrous 7000mAh battery into both models. The company promises this massive cell will last for five years of durable performance.

When it finally drains, 80W SuperVOOC fast charging can get it from one to one hundred percent in just 54 minutes. You also get a clever bypass charging feature also routes power directly to the motherboard when gaming while plugged in, which should reduce heat buildup and preserve battery health.

As for the front, the phones feature a 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a responsive 240Hz touch sampling rate. Both phones feature a very gamer-inspired look, though the Pro model sports an additional customisable “Turbo Breathing Light”.

The Oppo K13 Turbo Pro 5G goes on sale 15 August with an effective starting price of Rs 34,999, while the K13 Turbo 5G follows on 18 August starting at Rs 24,999. Oppo also launched the Enco Buds 3 Pro alongside these devices for Rs 1,799.
