Oura has finally stepped into India, bringing its latest smart ring, the Oura Ring 4, to a market that is increasingly curious about wearable health tech beyond smartwatches. The Finnish company is positioning the Ring 4 as a discreet, always-on health companion, while also using the launch to spotlight a more pressing issue: India isn’t getting enough sleep.
The smart ring blends minimal design with a heavy focus on long-term wellness tracking, rather than the notification-heavy approach most wearables lean on.
Oura Ring 4: A smart ring that leans into sleep and recovery
At its core, the Oura Ring 4 is about continuous health tracking without feeling like you are wearing a gadget. It is made from lightweight titanium and comes with recessed sensors designed to stay comfortable through the day and, more importantly, through the night.
Oura claims the ring can track over 50 health and wellness metrics, powered by its Smart Sensing technology. This uses a multi-wavelength system with 18 signal pathways to measure things like sleep stages, recovery, heart rate, and activity levels. The algorithms are tuned to adapt to individual users, factoring in variables such as finger shape and skin tone.
The company is also making a case for form factor. With sizes ranging from 4 to 15, it offers one of the widest fits in the smart ring category, which is still relatively niche compared to watches and bands.
Alongside the hardware, Oura released data on Indian users that paints a slightly worrying picture. According to its findings, the average sleep duration in India sits at just 6 hours and 28 minutes per night, with users logging some of the lowest REM and deep sleep globally.

A large portion of users lean towards late-night schedules, with average bedtimes crossing midnight. At the same time, wake-up times remain fairly standard, effectively cutting into recovery. The result is a population that is both sleep-deprived and compensating with long daytime naps, averaging nearly an hour.
Oura Ring 4: Price and availability
The Oura Ring 4 starts at Rs 28,900 for the Silver and Black variants. More premium finishes such as Stealth, Brushed Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold are priced at Rs 39,900.
There is, however, an ongoing cost attached. Access to detailed insights and personalised health data requires an Oura Membership, priced at Rs 599 per month. The ring goes on sale in India starting March 18, with availability through the Croma website and a few retail stores across the country.
All in all, Oura’s India debut feels less like a measured entry into a market that is only just warming up to wearable health ecosystems. Is it on your wishlist? Drop a comment with your thoughts.
