If you are holding off on your PlayStation 5 purchase, it’s time you get one. As the next-generation PlayStation console, i.e., the PS6, isn’t coming anytime soon. Yes, the launch has apparently been delayed, and there’s a solid reason why. Additionally, the existing PS5 console may get pricier. Read on to know more.
Here’s why the PlayStation 6 could be delayed
Well, Sony hasn’t officially confirmed the delay or shared any announcement about the same. But according to Insider Gaming, the PS6 console could be delayed due to rising RAM prices.
For those unaware, RAM prices have been climbing steadily, driven by higher demand and tighter supply. For a console like the PlayStation 6, which is expected to push performance further with faster loading, better visuals, and more advanced gaming features, RAM plays a major role.
Notably, the existing PlayStation 5 has 16GB of RAM, and the PlayStation 6 may have more. Having said that, even for Sony, getting RAM for its consoles is a costly affair. So, there are two things Sony can do: either wait for RAM prices to drop, which may cause a delay, or go ahead with buying at the market price, which may make the console itself pricier.

What’s more concerning than the delay is that the existing console could be pricier because of the rising RAM costs. The PlayStation 5 has already received a price hike sometime back, and could get pricier next year.
That said, if you are holding off on your PS5 purchase, you should buy one right away. Currently, the PS5 Slim can be bought for around Rs 40,000 with bank offers on Croma.
