Marvel’s Wolverine set to charge onto PS5 in 2026

After years of radio silence, Insomniac Games has brought Marvel’s Wolverine back into the spotlight at Sony PlayStation’s State of Play, and the claws are dripping red this time. The new trailer finally pins down a release window of fall 2026 on the PS5, and gives us a rough-edged Logan voiced by Spartacus star Liam McIntyre.

This isn’t the clean, PG-13 Wolverine you might remember from Saturday morning cartoons. Insomniac is leaning into the grit, with gameplay that shows off bone-crunching, blood-splattered combat against the Reavers, a cyborg hate-squad who never did learn to leave mutants alone.

Throw in Omega Red, a looming Sentinel, and the ever-enigmatic Mystique, and you’ve got a rogues’ gallery that’s more global than local. The story will cut a wide path, from the pine forests of Canada to Tokyo’s neon streets and the lawless alleys of Madripoor.

From leaks to a long wait

Wolverine’s existence first went public back in 2021, but apart from last year’s headline-grabbing Insomniac data breach, which leaked a raw, pre-alpha slice of the game, fans have had nothing but speculation. That ends now.

The footage looks confident, cinematic, and unapologetically gory, a clear signal that Insomniac isn’t just reskinning Spider-Man with claws.

Of course, patience will still be required. Insomniac says more details will surface next spring, which means Logan won’t be carving his way onto PlayStation 5 until late 2026.

That’s a long wait in gaming years, but if this first glimpse is anything to go by, Wolverine could be the most brutal love letter to Marvel fans yet.
