PS Plus Essential has a bunch of free games for October

PlayStation Plus subscribers can download the engaging horror game Alan Wake 2, the chaotic sandbox Goat Simulator 3, and the mind-bending puzzler Cocoon starting Tuesday, 7 October.

The games are already beginning to appear for players in Japan and Asia, but everyone else can expect the lineup to go live at 2am PDT, which translates to 5am EDT and 10am BST. This means you have just a few hours left to claim September’s monthly games.

Other games include Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley, and Viewfinder, so be sure to add them to your library, too, before they disappear. Once claimed, these titles from are yours to keep.

October’s headliner is also a perfect treat for the spooky season. Alan Wake 2 plunges players into a psychological survival horror masterpiece. You will navigate two nightmarish realities as both new hero Saga Anderson and the returning author himself.

If you need a break from the terror, you can instead create some mayhem in Goat Simulator 3. You and up to three friends can team up online or locally to cause complete carnage as Pilgor the goat returns.

Rounding out the trio is Cocoon, an award-winning puzzle adventure from the lead gameplay designer of Limbo and Inside. Its unique mechanic involves leaping between worlds held inside orbs that you carry on your back.

These three games will be available to claim until Monday, 3 November. PlayStation Plus Premium members also get a bonus, with a one-hour trial for Midnight Murder Club becoming available on the same day.
