Samsung unveils world’s brightest QD-OLED TV panel ahead of CES 2026

Higher brightness, cleaner colour reproduction

Samsung unveils world’s brightest QD-OLED TV panel ahead of CES 2026

Ahead of CES 2026, Samsung Display has unveiled its latest QD-OLED TV panel, promising higher peak brightness and improved image quality over its previous generation.

The panel will be on display at Samsung Display’s CES booth in Las Vegas from January 6 and is expected to be adopted in select OLED TV models from Samsung Electronics, which are likely to be unveiled during the show.

According to the company, the new QD-OLED panel can deliver peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits, placing it among the brightest self-emissive TV panels announced to date. Samsung Display also claims gains in perceptual brightness and colour vibrancy when compared to competing OLED technologies.

A different approach to brightness

Samsung Display attributes the increased luminance to its method of simultaneously maximising the output of the red, green, and blue elements within each pixel. By relying solely on RGB light emission, the company says the panel is able to preserve colour accuracy while reaching higher brightness levels.

This differs from OLED TV panels produced by LG Display, which use an additional white sub-pixel alongside RGB elements to enhance brightness, a design choice that can reduce colour purity at higher luminance levels.

The panel is also designed to support AI-driven picture quality optimisation, a feature expected to play a role in Samsung’s upcoming premium television lineup.

In addition to TV panels, Samsung Display will showcase a broader range of OLED technologies at CES 2026. These include OLED displays for AI-powered home robotics, durability demonstrations for foldable OLED panels, large-format automotive OLED screens, OLED-on-Silicon displays intended for devices such as the Galaxy XR headset, and QD-OLED panels developed for laptops and monitors.
