Samsung’s much-teased Project Moohan XR headset won’t be landing this month after all. The launch, originally rumoured for September 29, has slipped into October, and the delay says a lot about how carefully Samsung is treating its first big swing at extended reality. Here’s everything that’s known about the upcoming XR wearable and its launch date, so far.
The shifting timeline for Project Moohan's launch
According to a fresh ETNews report, Samsung now plans to unveil the XR headset on October 21 at an online launch event. Specs, features, and sale dates are expected to be detailed there. Earlier whispers pointed to a September reveal, followed by South Korean sales from October 13. That plan seems shelved, meaning early adopters will need a little more patience before strapping this wearable to their faces.
The revised date reportedly comes down to “internal marketing strategy” coordination and extra rounds of quality assurance. For a product that aims to blur reality with AI smarts, Samsung clearly wants to avoid rough edges at launch, which is always a good sign.
Project Moohan shipment plan and Galaxy tri-fold delays
Codenamed Project Moohan, the headset is tipped to ship in relatively small numbers, around 1,00,000 units at first, with Samsung adjusting based on demand. Pricing rumours put it between KRW 2.5 million and KRW 4 million (roughly Rs 1.59 lakh to Rs 2.55 lakh), placing it in the rarified air of premium mixed reality.
The Galaxy Z Tri Fold, another headline-grabbing form factor, was expected to debut alongside the headset. That foldable’s launch date also seems to be pushed further into late October or even November.

For now, the Project Moohan delay isn’t a cancellation; it’s Samsung giving itself room to make sure its first AI-powered headset isn’t just futuristic, but launch-ready. October just became a little more interesting.
