Gaming monitors are sought after largely for their high refresh rates, which makes sense for competitive gamers who need to make split-second decisions. But most other gamers are looking for an immersive experience with gaming monitors. That is exactly what Samsung’s new ViewFinity S9 S95UC offers.

The Samsung ViewFInity S9 49-inch monitor (not to be confused with the ViewFinity S9 27-inch) comes with a bunch of good features that make it great for a gaming setup, but it is highlighted by its 1000R curved screen. This ultra-wide display has a 32:9 aspect ratio. That is so wide, it is the equivalent of two 16:9 monitors placed next to each other (minus the division in between).

Being a curved monitor with that aspect ratio offers the ViewFinity S9 the ability to cover most of your eyes’ visible range, offering a very immersive experience, which is great if you have games that support the 32:9 aspect ratio, like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered.

The monitor also comes with 350nits brightness, great for most gaming rooms, and a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels, so gamers can put their graphics cards through their paces in the pursuit of high-res gaming. Competitive FPS gamers will also appreciate the support for 120Hz refresh rate and the 4ms response time, which also make this monitor great for fast-paced action-heavy games.

Samsung has also thrown in a 3.5mm audio port, an Ethernet (RJ45) port, and two 5W speakers in a stereo configuration. The panel also and 115 per cent sRGB and 92 per cent DCI-P3 colour space coverage.

The stand here offers adjustment in height, tilt and swivel, while the monitor itself supports VESA-mounting, which means you can mount it to most dual-monitor rigs, although a vertical one would be more suitable for this particular monitor.

The Samsung ViewFinity S9 49-inch curved monitor is priced at KRW 14,90,000 (about Rs 95,313), and is unfortunately, only limited to South Korea for now. However, we do hope this product comes to India, where gamers will surely appreciate it.
