Sonos brings its premium portable speaker Move 2 to India

Sonos, the cult-favourite audio brand known for its obsession with clean design and impeccable sound, has officially launched its Move 2 portable speaker in India. Priced at Rs 49,999, this is not your average Bluetooth speaker; it’s a smart, rugged, and seriously refined piece of kit designed for those who want audiophile-grade stereo sound that can survive the great outdoors and look sharp on a bookshelf.

And this time, Sonos is thinking beyond just sound. With sustainability baked into the design and a serious battery upgrade, Move 2 is positioning itself as the company’s most complete portable product yet. Something that could just as easily soundtrack a weekend road trip as it could a lazy Sunday on your balcony. Here’s all you need to know about the Sonos Move 2.

Sonos Move 2: Everything you need to know

Among the USPs of the Sonos Move 2 is stereo sound. While the original Sonos Move delivered impressive mono performance, the Move 2 comes with an all-new acoustic architecture. That means dual tweeters for crisp stereo separation and a woofer that hits deep bass notes without distortion, even when you’re not plugged in. Whether you’re listening to Dua Lipa on a terrace or blasting Linkin Park on a road trip, the speaker adapts to its environment using automatic Trueplay tuning.

With up to 24 hours of battery life (double its predecessor), USB-C charging, and the ability to power up your phone or other gadgets, the Move 2 clearly has mobility on its mind. It’s also more sustainable than before. Sonos claims the new model reduces idle energy usage by over 40 per cent, uses recycled plastics, and includes a replaceable battery to stretch its lifespan.

The speaker’s design remains quintessentially Sonos – minimal, soft-edged, and tasteful enough to blend into almost any environment. The new Olive green colourway is a nod to today’s earthy, indoor-outdoor design trend, joining the classic Black and White options.

What makes the Move 2 more than just a speaker is how seamlessly it integrates into your life and the wider Sonos ecosystem. It supports simultaneous Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so you can stream over Bluetooth even when connected to your home setup. Want to go old-school? You can plug in your turntable or computer using the Sonos Line-In Adapter.

Controlling it is equally flexible. Use the intuitive new capacitive volume slider, talk to it via Sonos Voice or Amazon Alexa, or just tap around in the app. You can even stream via Apple AirPlay 2, which means it plays nice with your Apple gear.

The IP56 rating means it’s dustproof, splash-resistant, and can shrug off accidental drops and unexpected rain. In short, it’s built to survive real life without the plasticky, ruggedised bulk that usually defines “outdoor speakers”.

Now look, the Sonos Move 2 isn’t cheap at Rs 49,999, but then again, this isn’t a speaker that’s playing the budget game. It’s built for design-conscious listeners who want the best of both worlds – immersive, stereo sound and rugged portability.
