Swiggy has officially announced today that it is integrating the Model Context Protocol (MCP) across its entire suite of apps. These include Swiggy Food, Instamart, and Dineout. Effectively, this means that developers can build apps that can interact with these platforms and possibly even place orders for you.
MCP across Swiggy's entire suite of apps
Anthropic originally launched MCP back in November 2024. For the unaware, MCP is a universal translator that helps large language models actually do things rather than just talk about them. It connects AI to external data – like databases or APIs – so the bots can act on live information.
While Indian fintech companies like Razorpay and Cashfree jumped on this last year to streamline payments, Swiggy is taking a different approach.
It is using the tech to link its food delivery, Instamart, and Dineout services directly to these AI models. According to Swiggy, Instamart is actually the first quick commerce platform globally to adopt this.

So, instead of manually tapping through menus, you can simply tell an app to “order ingredients for a spicy pasta,” and it will browse through over 40,000 stock-keeping units to build your cart.
Swiggy CTO Madhusudhan Rao says this is about removing friction from daily decisions, which sounds fantastic for anyone who suffers from dinner-decision fatigue.
