2025 is going to be a busy year, as we have already seen a bunch of smartphone releases in the first few weeks. However, we are yet to see a new foldable phone. Smartphones that fold or flip are no longer a gimmick and have fast reached mainstream status.
If you’ve been waiting for the year 2025 to finally switch to a foldable phone, then you’ve come to the right place. If the past year was anything to go by, nearly every major brand is expected to launch a foldable phone. Read on to find out what devices are expected to launch this year.
OnePlus Open 2
After launching the OnePlus Open back in October 2023, OnePlus was expected to launch the OnePlus Open 2 last year. But that didn’t happen. This year however the brand is widely expected to launch the next-gen OnePlus Open 2.

Rumour mills are already in full flow, and this upcoming device is expected to launch sometime in the first half of this year. It could very well be a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N5.
The Open 2 is expected to be the thinnest foldable yet and will likely be placed above the recently launched OnePlus 13. Some of the leaked features include a 2K primary display, a Snapdragon 8 series chipset, and a larger 6,000mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
When we talk about foldables, Samsung is one name that we can’t skip. The brand has been consistently launching foldable phones, making its Galaxy Z Fold series a prominent name in this space. This year, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 sometime in July.

The foldable phone is expected to come with larger screens, with reports hinting at an 8-inch primary screen and a 6.5-inch cover screen. Other rumoured features include a Snapdragon 8 series chipset and an improved triple-rear camera system.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
Alongside the bookstyle foldable, Samsung is also likely to launch a clamshell version, which could be called the Galaxy Z Flip 7. While not much is known about the phone, rumours hint at a Snapdragon 8 series chipset under the hood, and Android 15 support out of the box.

Apart from this, Samsung may also bring a refined design compared to the Z Flip 6. This time around, we hope Samsung adds some cool cover screen features like other OEMs.
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold
As per Google’s usual timeline, the next Pixel series may arrive in August. The series may also come with a new Pixel foldable likely called the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, a successor to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The foldable phone is expected to come with an improved design, the new Tensor G5 chipset, and up to 16GB of RAM. It’s unclear if Google will change the screen size this time. However, it may offer better durability and the latest Android OS then, which should likely be Android 16.
Vivo X Fold 4
Last year, Vivo launched its first foldable phone, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, in India. This year Vivo is expected to release its successor, the Vivo X Fold 4. Unfortunately, not much is known about the device as of yet. What we know, however, is that the device will likely pack a new chipset inside and the latest Android operating system.

We’ll have to wait and see if Vivo also upgrades the foldable’s design and cameras. The phone may launch in H1 of this year in global markets, including India.
