The premium mid-range smartphone space is no longer playing it safe. With the Vivo V70 starting at Rs 45,999, the V-series has stepped into sub-flagship territory, where camera hardware is expected to justify the price jump. Its closest rival? The Oppo Reno 15, a phone that mirrors it very closely and promises serious zoom chops.
On paper, they’re awfully similar. In practice, their personalities start to show the moment you begin zooming. Let’s dive into the Vivo V70 vs Oppo Reno 15 camera zoom test to know which one takes the zoom camera phone crown in this segment.
Vivo V70 vs Oppo Reno 15: Camera specs
The Vivo V70 packs a Zeiss-backed triple camera setup which includes a 50MP OIS main camera, a 50MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide. Up front, there’s a 50MP selfie camera.
The Oppo Reno 15 counters with a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP telephoto offering 3.5x optical zoom. It too gets a 50MP front camera. See? Nearly identical.
The only real hardware difference is that extra 0.5x optical reach on the Reno 15. Everything else comes down to processing.
Vivo V70 vs Oppo Reno 15: Camera zoom compared
At 1x, both phones are sharp and detailed, but the Vivo V70 handles highlights more gracefully. Bright skies and reflective surfaces stay controlled, while the Reno 15 occasionally blows out brighter areas despite matching detail levels.
At their respective optical zoom levels, 3x on the Vivo, 3.5x on the Oppo, both deliver strong results. The Reno’s tighter framing is handy for portraits, but highlight handling still slightly favours Vivo, once again. The V70 also applies a grungier, moodier tone, which some may find more cinematic.
Push to 30x and both phones rely heavily on digital cropping and AI sharpening. Impressively, results remain usable, with enough detail for social media without looking overly artificial.

At maximum zoom, 100x on the Vivo and 120x on the Reno 15, results are a bit too artificial. Both show the expected water colour effect, and we wouldn’t say either result is particularly good.
All in all, though, the results are very close. Both the Vivo V70 and Oppo Reno 15 are fantastic camera phones in their own right and give the flagships of 2026 a good run for their money. Which one do you prefer for zoom? Let us know in the comments section below.
